THE IMPACT OF COMMUNITY SECURITY ON SOCIETAL HARMONY - THE LIBYAN CASE AS EXAMPLE

Abstract:
Security is a major issue for the society because it is the corner stone for its the survival and continuity, and it is one of the most important drivers of foreign and internal policy choices, as well as a paths for integration and national system building. The most prominent transformations of Libyan society today are the emergence of new driving forces acting beside the official state. In addition to its political, economic, social, cultural, and environmental impact, these forces also have an international role. This huge transformation has made the Libyan state unable to face these challenges on its own, yielding the emergence of a number of threats that did not exist before in Libya. Unfortunately, these threats is no longer a local issue but it become globally impacting in the form of international terrorism, drug trafficking and pollution. All these issues represent major threats to human society and its ambition to live in peace and harmony away from marginalization or persecution. This paper attempted to answer a key question: what impact did Community Security have on the social fabric? The paper has concluded many facts. This includes the challenges facing community security in Libyan society, such as the security challenge, the spread of violence, the state of political division, which in turn has contributed to the absence of social programs, the spread of drugs and various diseases, the availability and proliferation of weapons, the high unemployment rate and the mass gatherings of displaced populations, which have had a clear impact on the lack of Social Security and the preservation of the social fabric.
