SOCIAL INVESTMENT AND IT’S ROLE IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract Research mainly aimed to identify the concept of social investment and determine its foundations, principles and roles in the development of the local community. The descriptive (analytical) method was used to present references and previous studies that dealt with the subject of social investment and analyze the scientific results reached while determining the theoretical and applied importance and the limitations of the research. The most important results were as follows: - The importance of social investment and its impact on the development of the local community, and placing it among the state’s strategic goals, because of its development dimension. - Lack of awareness of the concept of social investment due to its novelty and weak circulation and application. - The development taking place in the world and the trend toward materialism contributed to the emergence of the concept of social investment. Accordingly, some recommendations emerged, including that the state make social investment among its strategic goals, because of its comprehensive dimension in developing the local community, and that the Ministry of Commerce and the relevant ministries adopt the establishment of a (center concerned with social investment organizations) to increase awareness and interest in this subject, and that the Ministry of Commerce adopt Commerce and relevant ministries motivate investors, adopt the concept of social investment in their investments and highlight it. The research also suggests conducting a number of future research to study: The reality of applying social investment in public sector organizations, studying ways to transform sector organizations’ projects from commercial investment to social investment that contributes to community development, and linking the impact of applying social investment on local community development.
